About Torkelson Commodities

Torkelson Commodities Inc is a corporate family farm started by Russ and Sharon Torkelson in 1969 and incorporated in July of 2000. Torkelson Commodities is owned by Russ and Sharon and their son Toby Torkelson.

Our farm is located 5 ½ miles west of Oungre on highway 18. We practice sustainable crop rotations using the methods of minimal tillage and continuous cropping.

We met Ray Germain of Rayglen Commodities of Saskatoon in 1992 when we contracted yellow mustard through his commodities brokerage. Since then we have also grown such crops as Brown Mustard, Canola, Flaxseed, Yellow Flaxseed, Large Green Lentils, Medium Green Lentils, Small Green Lentils, Red Lentils, Desi Chickpeas, Kabuli Chickpeas, Yellow Peas, Green Peas, Maple Peas, Oats, Rye Barley, Durum, CPS, HRS wheat, Extra Strong Wheat and Safflower. Our cropping has since simplified a bit.

Toby Torkelson is acting General Manager at Rayglen Commodities and provides marketing consultation for a diversified group of grain producers.
